Is your child using drugs? 7 warning signs

Drug use often starts slowly, and by the time parents notice, it can be late. Spotting it early makes helping much easier. Watch for these seven signs.

  1. A sudden change of friends — and secrecy about where they go.
  2. Falling at school — lower marks, skipped classes, losing interest in hobbies.
  3. Changes in sleep and appetite — sleeping far more or less, sudden weight loss.
  4. Mood swings — irritability, anger, withdrawing from the family.
  5. Money or things going missing — frequent requests for money with no clear reason.
  6. Physical signs — red eyes, unusual smells on clothes or breath, poor hygiene.
  7. Unfamiliar items — pills, powders, injection marks, or apps and chats they hide.

One sign alone proves nothing; look for a pattern of changes.
